Does clean laundry soap really clean?

Short answer: yes, on most loads, if you use it correctly. Longer answer below, including the two places where it will disappoint you if nobody warns you first.
Where conventional detergent wins on paper
Conventional detergents use optical brighteners, which are compounds that stay on the fabric and fluoresce under light so whites look whiter. Nothing was removed. Your eye was managed.
A soap without brighteners will look slightly less bright on a white sheet in direct sun. It is also not leaving a residue on the sheet you sleep on. That is the trade, stated plainly.
The two places you need a little technique
Hard water. If your water is hard, add a half cup of washing soda to the drum. This solves most complaints we hear.
Oil stains. Pre-treat with a dab of bar soap and warm water rather than expecting the wash cycle to do it. Ten seconds of work.
How to test it fairly
Run the worst load in your house. Work shirts, kitchen towels, whatever you actually dread. Compare it to the same load last week, not to an advertisement.
If it does not hold up, tell us and we will make it right. We would rather have the feedback than the sale.
